Boys & Girls Clubs of the Western Reserve welcomes individuals in the community who want to support our efforts through volunteering.
If you are sincerely interested in inspiring, motivating, and impacting young lives, then Boys & Girls Clubs is the place for you! Depending on the specific club location, we offer volunteer opportunities in the areas of tutoring, mentoring, coaching, special events, programming assistance, administrative support and more.
In order to become a volunteer you must:

Be at least 16 years of age.

Complete a volunteer application and background check.

Volunteer Notification - after your background check is complete, you will be notified of your status. If approved, you will be scheduled for an interview with the Manager of Volunteer Services. Scheduling is discussed during the interview.

Volunteer Training/Scheduling - Training will take place at the Arlington Clubhouse. Your volunteer schedule will be discussed at your orientation or interview time.
PLEASE NOTE: We can not accept court-ordered community service hours.
We understand that some schools require students to complete a minimum number of community service hours for graduation and course completion. We do offer some limited volunteer opportunities for students who are interested in performing their service with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Western Reserve. On-going Volunteer Opportunities

Speakers: there are many types of speakers who would be valuable for Club youth to hear. Some topics that we regularly address with the kids include - career options, setting goals, the importance of leadership & how to combat prejudice.

Sports Team Assistant Coach
-
Art Room Helper: work with kids to as they learn about art and how to express themselves creatively.

Tech Room Helper: assist in supervising computer time, answer kids´ questions & teaching new skills such as how to use Microsoft products.

Field Trip Chaperone: we have a wide variety of field trips throughout the year and additional chaperones are always welcome!

Game Room Helper: play games with Club members while encouraging sharing and good sportsmanship.

Homework Helper: assist youth with general homework questions and/or tutor kids who need one-on-one help.

Dinner Buddy: sit down with a table of kids at dinner to talk to them about their day, school, etc.
Special Event Volunteers
Throughout the year there is a wide variety of special events held for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Western Reserve. Some events are fundraisers and others are special days for Club members. Annual Extravaganza: this is the major fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Western Reserve. It is held annually on the 3rd Saturday of February. SAVE THE DATE for BE A STAR Celebration - Saturday, February 18, 2012!

Day for Kids: every year we have a special day to celebrate our Club members. Typically it is an outdoor festival held at the end of August or beginning of September.
Internships
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Western Reserve is proud to accommodate students seeking internships to gain experience in non-profit work through a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to events, development, marketing, youth development, and volunteer management. We are also proud to serve as a resource for students interested in civic engagement seeking hours for college service learning.
